Autumn Flowers

As the warmth begin to fade and the winds begin to blow, out come the blazing colours of cut flowers in the autumn.

Dahlias as a cut flower in autumn

Days and days of dahlias

The biggest performer in autumn have to be the dahlias. They start of slowly, then keep flowering and flowering. I have so many favourite types, from waterlily to decorative and ball, yet its the colours that really make to ooh’s and ahh’s. Not always easy to photograph, yet have tried my best to share with you the beauties I get to see every morning.

“The falling leaves drift by my window. The falling leaves of red and gold. I see your lips and summer kisses. The sunburned hands I used to hold.”

Lyrics from the song ‘Autumn Leaves’ by Eva Cassidy

Getting ready for Christmas

Late autumn is the time of year when lots of flowers go to sleep and the pruning of evergreens begins. My foliage for Christmas decorations and wreaths mainly comes from the little plot and its great to be able to use it to produce nature inspired Chrismassy things.
